Day 17 of 365

Thank you to my 32 loyal followers and all who share this ride...

(Here's how the story begins:  http://ruthperkinson.blogspot.com/2011/01/day-1-of-365anyone-want-to-come-along.html)

Remember the goal: Finding a producer or celeb or anyone who will help make Piper's Someday (the book River stars in) into a movie...

River's words of wisdom for today: "When God hands you more defeats than you can handle, just curl up next to someone you love and snuggle."

Time goes on.

Today is the second day after River's first chemo treatment and she's having a really good day. It started out with a romp outside this morning where she ran like crazy to the chain link fence where she got pets from the neighbor, Augie. He's a kind man and loves River very much even though she barks and wags her tail at him at the same time. He always talks to her in his sweet way and she thinks he's carved out of gold.

Neighbors are wonderful. The other neighbor on the other side, Tom, has two dogs, Bogie and Duffy. Both boys. Since River is straight, she has taken a shine to Bogie and always wants to come completely out of her skin when she sees him. Bogie is an older black lab with a hefty girth and strong wolfie countenance. She can't stand herself when Bogie's around. There's so much sniffing and loving and bouncing around that you'd think someone might want to film it...hmmm...gives mom an idea.

So, River's a bit of a flirt. She loves men and loves boy dogs. I thought I'd raised her well to be a lesbian dog, but, she turned out to be straight.

Guess you can't have everything you want in life.

We're marching through a very cold weekend here in Virginia. The temperature is supposed to be near ten degrees tonight. So, we will do a lot of snuggling.

River and Heather and I went for a jog (yes, a jog) around the block today. River had on her new harness and a red scarf to keep her neck warm. She led the whole way as she's continuing her plea to enter the Iditarod as a three-legger and go all the way 'cross the bloody Tundra.

I will be skinnier by then.

Thanks for reading. Here's to more suggestions, comments, whatever...if you have them.

Sleep tight.

Love,

Ruth and River
